EASTER
EASTER MORNING
"I can’t sleep," I said in the middle of the night. "What's wrong?" my mom called out from my sister Rose's room. I guess she couldn’t sleep either. I was so excited for Easter because I had a fun day planned.
My mom came into my bed to sleep with me. My mom wasn’t helping me sleep she was actually making me stay awake because she was snoring. I didn’t close my eyes once. My mom told me and my two sisters that we had to stay in bed until 7:30. I just stared at the ceiling for hours. It was 7:29 me and my sisters woke my parents up. "don't peek at your Easter baskets" my mom said. I couldn't help but peek at my basket. My parents finally came downstairs.
We acted surprised as we opened the gifts that the easter bunny left in our baskets. Some of my favorite things were the Nikes (they were black and white), I got a squishy maker, and a slime kit. Then me and my sisters found Easter eggs hidden around the house. I found 16 eggs.
I really wanted to try out my squishy maker. Rose also got one so we did them together. First, you have to pour "secret solution A and secret solution B together" then add food dye and mix it around. Next, you have to pour it into an animal-shaped mold and wait 60 minutes to take it out. Lastly, when it comes out it will be a surprise what it is. I got a sloth and I named it Sally the sloth. I could already tell that it was going to be a good day.
I think some parts of this slice are definitely fiction…so proud to see you taking this writing so seriously and how excited you are to write. I can’t wait to be your greatest fan all month long. Love you! ❤️ Mom
ReplyDeleteYou grabbed my attention with your dialogue in the first line. I could hear your frustration of having to wait for an exciting day to begin. I love all the specific details you then included in this slice. How you waited in bed and it was 7:29am. The dialogue to not peek. The list of things inside your basket. But my favorite is how you described the steps to making a squishy maker. I liked that part the best because you named it SALLY!! That's my name. So in my opinion, this is a PERFECT slice!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI could feel the anticipation building to see what was in those beautiful Easter baskets!
ReplyDeleteBTW: I've never heard of a shishy marker. Off to google that now!
