A Slice of Adi

 It is the day of a slice of life.❤️❤️❤️❤️.  I did all thirty days. It is my third year doing my blog. It was very fun and I've become a better writer. Some days it was fun. Somedays I was busy or I couldn’t think of an idea. I AM VERY PROUD OF MYSELF.

There are only 5 more days until my birthday. Here are five things I am really excited about: 1. I get to spend the day with my grandparents. 2. I'm going to be double digits. 3. I like cake...chocolate is my favorite. 4. I like presents. I like opening them and finding a surprise. 5. My birthday is finally on a weekend. I've been dreaming of having my birthday on a weekend for YEARS!

 Last year, I got a garden for my ninth birthday. I loved it. My dad and I decided to put it in the backyard, by the shed. We soon realized that it was not the best spot. It didn't get enough sun. My garden hardly had any vegetables all summer.  So this year, we decided to move it a more sunny place. My grandma came over to help. She's so crazy about gardening. First we took all of the dirt and sticks out of the garden. We used the wheelbarrow and a lot of pots that my Grandma brought. Then, we carried the garden to it's new spot. Then we put everything in. First we started with sticks, then leaves, and finally we put all the dirt back in.  We had planted some seeds in the house. We decided to plant the lettuce in the garden. I'm excited to see it grow.

 Saturday morning, I had my first soccer game of the spring season. I was excited and I wanted to score a goal. As I was warming up, I was thinking to myself, "we're going to win!"  Once the game started, I was playing midfield. I was happy because it's basically offense and you get to run up. So as we started, I played. I was tough. I had some good kicks and I had some good passes. I was really on fire. Maybe it was because of my new cleats! We scored three goals and ended up winning 3-1. I was really proud of us. When the game was over, it was time for my favorite part of the game, the snacks! We brought them and the juice was super refreshing.

 "Andrew's mom will be coming to do a craft later," Mr. Stillway said. All day, I couldn't stop thinking about the craft and what it would be. Finally, it was 12:30, and Andrew's mom came in. She showed us what we would be making. It was a caterpillar fidget, and I love fidgets. It fit me. It was made out of plastic Easter eggs and two pipe cleaners. We had to put the pipe cleaner through the holes in the eggs. When all of the eggs were on, we had the option to put googly eyes. It was really fine. Mine turned out good. I love playing with it. 

 Today, my sister had soccer practice. I had to go because my other sister had a middle school orientation. My friends from school were there because their sisters were also on Rose's team, so I decided to just play with them.  When I met up with them, we played a scrimmage. I was the goalie, and Maya and Grace were against each other. Next we had a bunch of competitions like who could do better cartwheels and cool tricks. Maya was the judge. I won a lot of the rounds.  When practice was over, we had to go home. I think I'll go back next time. 

“Five minutes left,” said Ms. Booska. I was in art and we were making dinosaurs for our dinosaur egg. It was very hard because there was a lot of steps. Once I heard five minutes I started rushing so I could get it done. I was trying to put spikes on my dinosaur. I had to cut a lot of triangles. I tried going as fast as I could but my triangles were all different sizes because I was rushing. As I was cutting a triangle, Ms. Booska said, “Start cleaning up!”  “Oh no,” I thought. Then when we were cleaning up it was so hectic. My table was so dirty and I still had to finish cutting my triangles. I rushed to get it done. I didn’t glue them on but I put them in my dinosaur egg. My table was still dirty. A few people came to help us.  Luckily, we got everything cleaned up by the time Mr. Stillway came. 

 Over break, our school got a Gaga ball pit. Today at PE, Mr. T announced that we could go outside and get to experiment with the Gaga Pit. I was excited because we never really go outside for PE.  When we got outside, we did a lap around the field. When we got back to the Gaga Pit, I saw Rose. I gave her a hug...I don't like hugs. Then, Mr. T explained the rules. Basically, you have to hit the ball when it comes to you or try to dodge it. You can't hit it two times in a row. It's called Gaga Ball, because the ball has to bounce three times before you can start playing. You say Ga-ga-ball. Then you can play.  We ginally got to play. It was down to the final ten or so people. I got out. But we got to play another round. I didn't win. But it was still fun.  Then after school, my friend Emma called to see if I wanted to meet at school to play Gaga. My mom said we could. The kids at the afterschool program were still there, so we all got to play together. 

 At school today, we were just finishing packing up. We were getting ready for our closing circle. We always do WORDLE and Connections together. Mr. Stillway called on someone and they gave the first guess for WORDLE. They chose water. It was wrong. The only letters that were right were the a, e, and r. That was a pretty good first word. Next, Mr. Stillway called on me. I picked later. It was almost right, except the T had to be changed to something else. "What could it be?" I wondered. Next, he called on Emma. She picked laser. It was right. We got the Wordle in three tries. I was so happy. 

 Today was random. Next week at school is a spirit week for school because we are testing. One of the days is pajama day. I don’t wear pajamas. I just wear sweatpants to bed because they are more comfortable. “Can we go to Marshals?” I asked my mom.  It was getting late so my mom said, “we’re only going to look at the pajamas.”  As we were walking to the pajamas, I saw my mom touching a dress or something. “What happened to only looking at pajamas?” I said.  We finally made our way to the pajamas. I found a colorful pair that had shorts and a shirt. I also found a sweatsuit in the clearance rack. Another spirit day is sweats day.  As we were walking to the register, my mom got distracted. I was thinking, “we were only supposed to be here ten minutes and it’s already been twenty.” My mom kept looking around and I was so confused. 

 "Nock, nock, nock," my sister Rose said as she knocked on the door to my room. I knew she needed something. "Do you want to do my makeup? " Rose said. I knew I would. We went into her room. It was really messy. I had to do her eyes. She wanted gold. I didn’t tell her I used pink because the gold didn't appear. When we were done, Rose looked really funny. Rose loved it, but I didn’t. When we went downstairs, my parents said they loved it, but just by looking at their faces, I knew they didn’t.

It was a chilly Friday evening. I had soccer practice for an hour. At the end, we always put our hands in and say a different word. Tonight, we all agreed to say ice cream because a lot of people were either getting ice cream that night or over the weekend.  As we got in the car after practice, I asked, "Can we get ice cream?" I really wanted ice cream from Micalizzie's. My favorite flavor is cannoli. My mom said she didn't have money, but I think she did. She just didn't want to get ice cream. Then my dad said he had money, so we went. When we got there, I didn't want to get out of the car because I was super tired from soccer. I stayed in the car with my mom and sister. My dad and Rose went into the ice cream shop. Wren and I were fighting in the car. It felt like ten minutes. Finally, when my dad came back in the car, he gave us our ice cream. I couldn't wait to taste it. I ate it in the car. Even though I was still cold from soccer, the ice cream was g

 "Do you want to go to Stepping Stones Museum or the Aquarium with Vienna today?" my mom asked. Wren and I both voted for the Aquarium. I was excited. We drove with Vienna, my cousin. It was a long drive, but when we finally got there, we took the elevator and walked into the aquarium. It was a little crowded. First, we went to see the jellyfish. There were pink jellyfish, and you could see their tentacles moving in the water. In each tank we passed by, the jellyfish got smaller and smaller until, in the last tank, you could hardly even see them. Next, we went to the stingrays. They were so cool. We even got to pet them. "Ew. That feels gross," my Mimi said. I thought it felt soft and smooth. We saw some other cool fish. But last but not least, we saw the giant sea turtles. They were huge and in this tiny tank with other animals, including an eel. I was thinking, "Poor turtles. They only have a little space." The turtles kept swimming right by the windows,

 Dear Mr. Stillway,    Happy birthday! Thank you for being a great teacher...actually the GOAT-greatest of all teachers. You always make learning fun. You say "distraction" and tell us a random story. My favorite distraction was the one about cracking knuckles.   You're great at teaching me math. I've been enjoying fractions. I enjoy how you told us about 2/3, p.s. I didn't actually say his name.      I hope you had a great day and got to do all the things that make you happy. Have a great rest of your break. T: Today I am so tired. I: I woke up at 3:00 am and drove for twelve hours, from North Carolina back to Connecticut. R: Ready for bed, I've been, since we got home around 3pm! E: Energy is what I hope I have more of when I wake up in my own bed tomorrow. D: Don't ever wake me up again...

 For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to go rock climbing. I was in North Carolina and it was the last day so I wanted to do something fun. My mom said we could go rock climbing. I was very excited.      We got to a place called, The Climbing Place. When we saw it from the outside it didn’t look like there were many people. When we got inside, we were the only ones. It looked a little ragged but it looked fun at the same time. Ms. Ruth who worked there explained all of the directions. She helped us with shoes and harnesses. Then we were free to climb.  First, I went on this rock climbing wall and it was really fun  when I got to the top, I rang a bell  I got to jump down. Next I went to a Ninja Warrior area. It was high off the ground. It involves a lot of swinging and using your arms. I felt so scared when I got up because I had to climb on this thin beam. I was getting ready to cross these rings that were high up.  I got nervous and just jumped down as I hung from the first ring. 

I’m in North Carolina with my cousins. We were begging my mom to go in the pool. She said, “no,” like always. So when she was at the store with my dad, we asked my aunt if we could go in the pool. She said that she didn’t really care.  So, we already had our bathing suits on. We each dipped our toes in. We pretended it wasn’t cold, but it was freezing. I stood near the pool, and Stone pushed me in.  It was freezing cold. I got straight out even thought I still didn’t want to admit it was cold. I dries off with a towel. Prim and I headed inside. We took a bath.  Later that day, the temperature increased. The pool temperature was in the seventies. We wished we had waited to go into the pool…like my mom had said. 

I was in the car on my way to North Carolina to visit my cousins. The ride was 9 hours. My dad had to drive. Me and my sisters packed toys and devices so we wouldn’t be bored .We woke up at 4:00.We slept for the first 2 hours. We were hungry when we woke up. “Do you want to get doughnuts or breakfast from McDonalds,” my mom asked. We voted and doughnuts won. I was excited because we never get doughnuts so it was a treat. I got a glazed doughnut. After we ate our donuts we relaxed and watched TV on our kindles for 3 hours. Only four more hours. We stopped at the gas station to get gas in our car.We also went inside to go to the bathroom and get a snack. I took a nap and the when I woke up we were there. Ten hours is a long time to be in the car. 

Today, I had a band. I was so excited. When we got down to the band room for rehearsal, it was loud because we were a little late. I could barely walk because there were so many people and instruments. While I was walking through the aisle, I saw the saxophones peeing! It was gross, but then Jake explained that it was spit. That was a little less gross. 🤢🤮.  I built my clarinet really fast. We started to play but couldn’t get a lot done because we kept playing while Mr. Babby, our band teacher, was talking. We only had 30 minutes. I thought we sounded good. My throat was dry. The songs are circus-themed. We play the ringmaster (my favorite), the crazy clowns and the elephants. We were acting like the CRAZY CLOWNS!  

  It was a rainy afternoon. I was at school, and it was almost time for recess."Are we going to have outdoor recess or indoor recess?" Jennabelle said. "Look outside," Mr.Stillway said. Most of the class knew it was indoor recess. That means Mumdinomite. Mumdinomite is a fun, simple yet thrilling game. You throw a ball to someone, and they have to catch it. Sometimes, Mr. Stillway spices things up with a challenge like 'one-handed bandit ', where you have to use one hand. The room fills with silent laughter as we try not to talk or laugh. Mr. Stillway, our beacon of humor, tells us funny things, and he even has songs about the most unexpected topics, like diarrhea. I was playing Mum Dino-mite. The game was going smoothly until I was in the final three. I was against my best friends. It was soon the top two. I had some good catches. The last throw I was out at least it was 🤩 .  

Today was a half-day at school. I love half-days because you can just relax at home. I probably can't relax because after school I go to my Mimi's house and she runs a daycare.  When we got there, I could already tell it would be loud. Some of the kids were taking a nap, and it got quieter. My sister Wren’s friend Arielle came over to my Mimis house. "Let's play a board game," Wren said. We were okay with that idea. Wren brought us two game options, Life or Candyland. We voted which game we wanted, and everyone said Life. It took us about 10 minutes just setting up. We finally got a chance to play. I didn’t know how to play, so I could not wait another minute. It was so dull, so I quit. Next, I helped my Mimi make peanut butter bars, which were easy to make. Once we cut into the bars, we noticed that they were raw. I completely lost track of time, and before I knew it, it was already time for me to go to dance. 

"Start packing up for social studies and science," Mr.Stillway said. We started the Merrit Parkway...it's when we switch classes at the same time. It's like when two soccer teams give each other high fives after a game, each class passes by each other but we don't give high fives.    As I walked through the door into Ms. Sink's class, I noticed that we had a sub. That probably means that we have to do Scholastic News. The sub, Ms. F, let us work with partners. I worked with Ava and Emma. We had to read the news article and then there were three sheets of paper, front and back, that we had to do. We finished most of it, which is pretty impressive.  When it was time to switch back after science, Mr. Stillway said that our class was loud. I guess we were just having a fun time and didn't notice that we were loud. 

5 minutes left of the basketball 🏀 game. We were down by 4 points. We needed 3 more shots to win. My coach kept reminding us that 5 minutes is a long time. "We can do it." My teammate said. If we won we would move to the semifinals. We dribbled down the field with the ball. "YES," I said. We made a shot. Two more shots to go. I held my head up high. We were on defense. It was a lot of pressure, we could not let them score. I stole the ball, and dribbled down the field. I made a far pass. The teammate I passed to made a shot. That is called an assist. Now we were tied. The last shot won. We had to go overtime. 30 seconds left of the game. We put our game faces on. I was determined to win. 20 seconds. We dribbled down the field. The other team stole the ball. "Oh no", I said to myself. We stole the ball and the crowd was cheering. "You can do this," my dad said. 10 seconds left. 10, 9, 8 ,7 ,6. We made the shot. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We won my whole team

I was going to my cousin Vienna's house because it was my aunt Jenny's Birthday, and we had to drop off her gift. Vienna is one year old. We walked up the front steps and I was nervous that their huge boxers would scratch me. I opened the door and the two boxers jumped up at me. They calmed down after a few minutes. Jenny opened her gift. I didn't even know what it was. It was a blue sweater.  Then, Vienna showed us all of her toys. First, she showed us her food truck. It was cool. She gave me a lot of food. She had a jungle gym, cars, and much more than I can count. Vienna had a lot of fun, and so did my sisters and me. Vienna was sad when we were leaving. She grabbed her shoes because she thought that she was coming. We went because we had to take showers.

  It was a chilly Friday afternoon. I had a dance at school, and I had to get ready at the last minute. I got distracted because my grandma was at my house. I also had to go to my sister Wren's friend Sophia's house because she went there to get ready. My mom bought me a dress, but I didn’t like how it looked. I wore a black and white polka dot romper that I found in my messy closet. We left our house right in time. We got to Sophia’s house. I didn’t expect to sit down, but we still arrived in time. I didn’t know that getting ready was so hard.💦  

About a month ago, my class and I researched hurricanes. I also learned about tsunamis and earthquakes from some of my classmates.   "We have to be quiet because some people are still testing," Mr. Stillway said today. I was reading, and suddenly, there was a shaking in the ground. For a second, I thought it was a class above us moving desks, and then I realized there was no class above us. "Was that an earthquake?" Mr. Stillway said. He sounded shocked. My heart was racing. Mr. Stillway looked it up. It was an Earthquake! It was so crazy. I never thought I would experience an earthquake. 😝 

"Good morning," Mr. Stillway says as I walk through the door. "Today, your band practice will be at 11:10 because of our NWEA testing." I usually have band right when I arrive at school at 8:50. We started testing at 9:15. We did the math test. It was 1 hour. I was already tired, but I still had a long day ahead. Straight after testing, we had special. We had library. At least we could chill out in the library. I had to bring my clarinet and lunchbox because we had band straight after Library and Lunch straight after band.  "We have to go to band," I said in excitement. We had to walk up and down many stairs. Band was so fun and tiring at the time. I was getting hungry. We had 10 minutes until lunch, so we had to go back to our class. We had to go back up two flights of stairs just to go back down two flights of stairs. "Did you guys just come back from the gym?" my librarian said. We were huffing and puffing 😮‍💨 . She let us enter the library

It was a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Today, I had dance class. I was so excited because it was a special week—we got to try on our costumes. I do two classes: contemporary and hip-hop.  "Come warm up," my dance teacher said. "Today we will be trying on our costumes, I will be setting up dressing rooms(THEY WERE JUST MATS)." I did not want to change behind a mat because I feared they might fall over. I grabbed my costume and went to the bathroom to change. There was a line. I got distracted thinking about what color our costume was going to be. When I took the costume out of the bag, I was surprised it was blue because it didn’t match the song. I thought that it would be purple. I changed into it. When I got back into my class, everyone was finishing up. My dance teacher let us run the dance it was beautiful with the costumes.   Next, I had hip-hop and was excited to see what color those costumes were. I opened the bag, and it was black and pink. Every Monday, my sisters and I have a sleepover with my Mimi and Pop. We call it Mimi Monday. We usually have to wake up at 6:30 because my mom works in Westport and must be there by eight. My sisters and I hate waking up at 6:30. My Mimi and Pop work at a pizza place called the Parlor (My uncle owns it). The only day they have off is Monday, so it is a perfect day of the week to have a sleepover. We get to sleep an extra hour.  "Yay, it is Mimi Monday," my sister said excitedly. "Tomorrow, we get to wake up at whatever time we want," I said. I had to pack if I wanted to go. My Mimi came over to our house to get us. She stayed for dinner because we had a lot of leftover food from Easter. I had penne alla vodka and ham. After we ate we went to my Mimis house. My Mimi let us watch TV, we watched American Idol. We watched for almost an hour. Me and my sister Wren were acting silly 😜 because we were so tired. Next, we went upstairs to bed. I didn’t want to sleep on the

It was a regular school day. We were working on unfinished work. It was so fun (It was actually pretty boring). "Come sit on the floor," my teacher said sternly to my class. He sounded mad. I was so scared. "What did we do now," I thought to myself.  Mr. Stillway said, "What are you guys doing?" in a mad voice. Everyone was confused because we didn't think we did anything wrong. Then he said, "I got an email from Mr. Veteri (our principal) and it said that we aren't following the Whale Pillars or being respectful, honest, safe, and kind."  The note said that some of us had to stay back in fourth grade. We were surprised but Nate had a grin on his face. Then, Mr. Stillway jumped up. It was the fastest I ever saw him move. He said, "Happy April Fools Day!" We were so mad at him. Everyone said things like, "You tricked us!!!"  Mr. Stillway was so happy. He was laughing and he was bragging that he was the GOAT at tricking
